NEURAL TUBE DEFECTS and HYDROCEPHALUS
Neural tube defects (NTDs) central nervous system, which includes the spine and brain. Generally, neural tube birth defects develop during the first month of pregnancy occurring in approximately 1 in every 1,000 live births in the United States. The neural tube begins as a flat plate of tissue, which will in time, form two ridges that fold up and fuse, forming cylinder or tube. The neural tube later forms the brain and spinal cord.
