Glass Glazing
For many years, vehicles have been manufactured with what is known as tempered glass although a safer alternative, laminated glass is available. The use of tempered glass can have adverse consequences. Laminated glass is often used on the windshield because it stays intact when shattered and helps the occupant remain in the vehicle after a collision. In an attempt to reduce cost, some auto manufacturer's use tempered glass on the side and rear windows, which shatters, causing sever lacerations and allows the occupant to be ejected from the vehicle causing the chances of severe injury and death to rise dramatically.
Auto manufacturers could make vehicles windows much safer; but they don't want to incur the expense. Such economic justifications are hardly sufficient to an individual who has been severely injured as a result an auto manufacturer's failure to use laminated glass.
